【I Tried Singing】Kanade – SUKIMA SWITCH Back when I was in college, I watched an anime called Isshukan Friends (One Week Friends)—a drama/romance/slice-of-life story about a girl whose memories reset every week, and a boy who does everything he can to help her hold on to them. It’s a quiet, heartbreaking, and tear-jerking anime that I sincerely recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen it. The ending theme is a rendition of Kanade by Sora Amamiya, the voice actress behind Fujimiya Kaori, the female protagonist. The original song, however, was released years earlier by SUKIMA SWITCH around 2004. This anime, and this song, left a deep mark on my life. I watched it with friends I no longer keep in touch with, yet the memories we shared still feel vivid in my heart. In many ways, Kanade is about the pain of saying goodbye—so painful that sometimes, you’d rather sing than speak that word out loud. This is also the very first song I covered after buying my microphone in December 2025. The artwork is drawn by me, imagining myself in the world of Isshukan Friends—perhaps as a friend of Fujimiya Kaori and Yuki Hase. And the girl behind me?
