18-year-old Amir Omarkhanov has just won his first professional singles title β and this might be the beginning of a big story. π°πΏ
At the ITF M15 tournament in Monastir (Tunisia), the young Kazakh player showed real maturity under pressure and took the title in three sets against German player Max Schoenhaus (ATP #824, former world #2 in ITF Juniors):
6:3, 3:6, 6:4
On his way to the trophy, Amir defeated the 2nd, 6th, 7th and 8th seeds of the tournament β not bad for a first title, right?
Amir is a product of the Karaganda tennis school in Kazakhstan and took his first steps under coach Petr Nesterov. Now he trains at the famous Riccardo Piatti Academy, one of the strongest high-performance centers in the world.
This is just an M15 on paper.
In reality β itβs the first big step of a new Kazakh hope in menβs tennis.
π» Question for you:
How far do you think Amir can go in the ATP rankings?
Top 100? Top 50? Even higher?
