Credit card LIMIT: the money that hasn't hit your account yet
Your bank gave you a high credit card limit and it feels like extra money this month. It isn't. A credit limit is money the bank lends you, and everything you put on your credit card becomes a bill paid with a paycheck that hasn't arrived yet.
A simple habit: before you swipe, take the purchase out of your next paycheck and check what's left for the month's bills. If the math doesn't work, you're buying with money you don't have yet.
