During Vesak and Poson in Sri Lanka, illuminated Thorana (pandals) stand as towering masterpieces of art and devotion. These massive structure arches feature thousands of synchronized, glowing light bulbs surrounding hand-painted scenes that depict Jataka tales—the birth, enlightenment, and previous lives of Gautama Buddha. As night falls, crowds gather to admire the mesmerizing light sequences while listening to narrated audio storytelling that brings each sacred panel to life.
