Summary
The Sheng family, once a prestigious wealthy clan in Beijing, suffers a decline in fortune. To rescue their business, they arrange a marriage alliance with the Qi family. Before the wedding, Qi Wenbin dies unexpectedly. To save face, Qi Ming forces Qi Wenyan—who was abandoned abroad—to return and take her sister’s place in the wedding. However, the bride Sheng Wanxing runs away, and Sheng Xiangyang is compelled to marry in Wanxing’s stead to secure funding from the Qi family. Through a chain of misadventures, Qi Wenyan and Sheng Xiangyang eventually become husband and wife.
