In the year 2132, in a futuristic Warsaw under a great dome, the world struggles against a mysterious invasion. A signal sent in 1974 from the Arecibo Observatory, once carrying hope for contact with the cosmos, returns centuries later corrupted—bringing with it an alien consciousness. The “Taken” — humans whose minds are overtaken by the invaders — sabotage cities, extinguishing identities first among the elderly, then across the population. Lena, a young student of quantum medicine, discovers her resistance to the invasion, a quirk of the signal’s errors that protects young women. Together with her brother Paweł, a drone technician, she flees after their father Tomasz is Taken. The siblings join the resistance at the Neurotechnology Institute in the Tatra Mountains, where neurobiologist Aneta Rostowska and engineer Marek Kulesza are working on Project Garm — an antenna capable of destroying the alien consciousness. With violet hair as a symbol of her resistance, Lena leads raids in metal suits that shield her from the signals, fighting against the Taken. Key moments include daring missions such as infiltrating an enemy nest and the climactic battle for Warsaw, where Lena and Paweł, atop the Palace of Culture, activate wave emitters to repel the alien surge. The victory is bittersweet — the city survives, but the losses are immense, and Garm remains unfinished. By 2140, Lena, now leader of the resistance, and Paweł watch Warsaw slowly rebuild, releasing holographic lanterns into the sky. Yet the shadow of a new invasion lingers — a lone Taken plots another strike, this time adapted to the flaws of the original signal. The novel is an epic tale of hope, the loss of identity, and the strength of young women in humanity’s fight for survival. A novel based on the music video, The Last Battle, has also been published as an e-book, available on popular digital platforms such as Amazon Kindle and Empik.
