King of Thorn

The story is about a group of people who are put into suspended animation to escape a mysterious plague that turns people to stone. The main character, Kasumi, and 159 other people are chosen to go into cold sleep until a cure is found for the Medusa virus, which causes victims to have seizures and solidify into a clay-like substance within five hours. Kasumi wakes up after years of being frozen in the midst of chaos where monstrous creatures lie in wait. King of Thorn was adapted into a 2009-10 film directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama. The film's genres include action, horror, mystery, psychological, science fiction, and thriller. Some say the movie is more supplemental to the source material, rather than a true adaptation.
