"Melodies Of Life" is the main theme and vocal theme song of Final Fantasy IX. The song was composed by Nobuo Uematsu, arranged by Shirō Hamaguchi, and sung in both Japanese and English by Emiko Shiratori. The lyrics were written by Ciomi and translated into English by Kako Someya and Alexander O. Smith. "Melodies Of Life" is Nobuo Uematsu's favorite track on the Final Fantasy IX soundtrack.
In-game, the theme is associated with the summoners' village of Madain Sari, and is the motif for Zidane Tribal and Garnet Til Alexandros XVII's romantic relationship. The theme could be seen as the theme of Gaia in juxtaposition to Terra's theme of "A Place to Call Home".
