FBI agent Thomas Mackelway (Aaron Eckhart) is sent to Albuquerque, N.M. after mishandling the arrest of a serial killer. There, he investigates the gruesome murder of a salesman (Kevin Chamberlin), only to discover that the victim was a serial killer himself. With two more killings, Mackelway and his partner (Carrie-Anne Moss) suspect Benjamin O'Ryan (Ben Kingsley), a former FBI agent with psychic abilities.
