Sawako Kuronuma is frequently compared to the terrifying character Sadako from The Ring saga. Despite her quiet demeanor, she is often labeled as "Sadako" due to the fear she evokes in those around her. Desiring nothing more than a normal life and companionship, Sawako becomes fascinated with the charming and popular Shouta Kazehaya. She longs to emulate his ability to draw people to him and captivate them. When Kazehaya initiates a challenge of courage for their class, Sawako sees it as an opportunity to connect with her peers, particularly Ayane Yano and Chizuru Yoshida. With each activity, Sawako feels that meeting Kazehaya has improved her life dramatically. Unbeknownst to her, however, Sawako has also had a profound effect on Kazehaya.
