Kiyoka and Miyo arrive at the Usuba mansion where they find a cherry blossom tree blooming in the summer. After they arrive, Arata fully introduces himself as Arata Usuba, Miyo's cousin, and reveals that "Tsuruki" is a pseudonymn he uses when in public. Arata explains that the cause of Miyo's nightmares is actually her spiritual gift. Kiyoka and Miyo are introduced to the head of the Usubas, Yoshiro Usuba. Yoshiro offers Kiyoka his help if Kiyoka is willingly to let her stay with her maternal family. Yoshiro explains that Miyo has the ability to intervene in a person's dreams and because of that, she will continue to have nightmares. Kiyoka strongly refuses to leave Miyo and vows that he will protect her. Arata questions Kiyoka on protecting Miyo while he should be focused on the important matters like the Grotesqueries' impending invasion on the captial. Arata suggests Kiyoka a duel and Kiyoka accepts the challenge. Kiyoka has the upper hand and is about to finish Arata off but he is distracted by Arata's illusion of Miyo and lost the match. As the result, Miyo is taken under the care of her family. Despite his defeat, Kiyoka swears that he will get Miyo back once he deals with the situation. At the Usuba mansion, Yoshiro is about to tell Miyo about how her mother married into the Saimoris and why she sealed Miyo's spiritual powers.
