Living alone in the Chiba mountains after a devastating car accident claimed his mother's life and left him with a useless right hand, Tamahiko Shima has resigned himself to a life of pessimism and loneliness. But one snowy evening, someone knocks on Tamahiko's door, interrupting his insomnia. It's a 14-year-old girl named Yuzuki Tachibana, who announces that she's been sent to be his future wife. Tamahiko's father promised to send him a bride to help him with his daily struggles, and Yuzuki has been sold to repay her family's debts. Despite her difficult circumstances, Yuzuki proves to be a kind, hardworking, and devoted helper to Tamahiko.
