The typical storyline goes like this: a girl crushes on a guy, she confesses her feelings, and they live happily ever after. However, that's not what Chiyo Sakura experiences when she finally gathers the courage to confess to her classroom crush Nozaki. Unbeknownst to her, Nozaki is actually a manga artist who publishes under a female pseudonym. In a confusing turn of events, he misunderstands Chiyo's confession as a job application and offers her a position as his assistant rather than a date. Despite the mix-up, Chiyo accepts the offer because it's a chance to get closer to him. Nozaki soon realizes that Chiyo is helpful in understanding what girls find romantic and spends more time with her "researching," but remains completely oblivious to her feelings. Will Chiyo ever get her chance at a romantic relationship or will her frustration continue to grow?
