The Rising of the Shield Hero is a Japanese dark fantasy isekai light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. The series follows Naofumi Iwatani, a typical Japanese university student, who is transported into another world after he finds a book about four heroes. Naofumi, along with three others, discovers they have been summoned to become the “Cardinal Heroes” to find waves of monsters and protect the land. Each hero receives legendary equipment, with Naofumi receiving the Legendary Shield. Third season set to premiere in October 2023.
