Twitter’s anime community flew into a frenzy when the trailer for the Who Made Me a Princess‘s Donghua (Chinese animation) adaptation was released. Who Made Me a Princess is one of the most popular Korean webtoons right now, so the fanfare is to be expected. Based on Pluto’s web novel of the same name, the first season of the popular series illustrated by Spoon premiered on Ridibooks on Dec. 20, 2017, and comprised 46 episodes. The show’s second season premiered on July 10, 2019, and will feature 35 episodes, with the third season of the webtoon airing on Nov. 30, 2020. According to Fandom, “Who Made Me a Princess follows the journey of Athanasia de Alger Obelia, a South Korean girl who reincarnated into the fictional story, The Lovely Princess, as the abandoned princess of the Obelian Empire. In the story, Athanasia was mercilessly executed by her ruthless father, Emperor Claude de Alger Obelia, falsely accused of poisoning the beloved princess, Jennette Margarita. To avoid that cruel fate, Athanasia decides she must build a relationship based on affection between herself and her new father to survive.” Thrilled fans who wish to show their support for the adaptation have left many positive remarks on social media. Twitter user @chococoIatte wrote: “Oh damn, it’s seems so good! I’m kind of afraid that it will take months or even years to come out though” while a second fan raved over Chinese animation, saying, “Looks beautiful imo. I have seen handful of Chinese anime and majority of them are really good. Link Click is my favourite.” Another Twitter user, @shoujocrave, tweeted in agreement, adding, “fr, i think it’s because they treat better their animators unlike most japanese studios who are overworked and release a lot of animes per year, also slay i really like Link Click and I’m here waiting for s2.” ©️ctto
