Saliw is a dance created in our school, Bukal ng Batis ng Buhay. This dance accompanies the song. in this case, the song is Pagibig Ko. it aims to convey the message of the song. Aside from the manifest message found in the song, a deeper reflection of the song gives it a profound meaning which we call hulá. Hulá foretells what the message wants to reveal, or foretelling the future. In this song, the manifest meaning of the message is the unconditional love of a lover to the Beloved (you). On a deeper reflection, it reveals Humanity's predestination to God's unconditional love.
Every student in our school are taught to reflect on the deeper meaning to help them dance and convey the message of the song. Likewise followers are encouraged not only to appreciate the dance but to reflect on the message, and challenge them to do something about it. The value of the hulá is not on the message revealed but on how we, believers, acted upon the message. In Filipino ancient tradition, a Babaylan could be consulted to make hulá (foretell) to guide the seeker. As we reappropriate this tradition, our Saliw helps to foretell, to make hulá, to guide you, our people, to your destined path.
