Haraya is an old Tagalog word that can be translated as imagination, illusion, or idea. This is the 1st part of the 2-part 3D Animated short film-- HARAYA. Synopsis: A young girl visits her grandparents' quaint and quiet home off the beaten track. Deaf, curious, and exceptionally daring, she sets out to uncover a mystery that her elders do not want to talk about. As she ventures into the forest, she finds herself in a strange environment where she encounters a "friend" who saves them from a potential tragedy. This is the re-edit of our thesis film released under Syutpati Production (formerly known as Wiggly Bones Production). My friend and former classmate, Adrian, and I made this 3D animated short film for our art degree completion back in our college days. It was the height of the pandemic that time and our resources were so limited. Not to mention that our technical skills at that time were not as good as now. We managed to finish this short film despite all of the difficulties that we encountered during the production stage. We later got qualified in some local film festivals and won several awards. We produced this animation using a 3D software called Blender. It features the Filipino Sign Language (FSL) as the main language of the film.
