Dagashi Kashi AMV - [Candy Store]

Before watching the anime for Call of the Night or Yofukashi no Uta, I decided to check out the author's previous work, Dagashi Kashi. I did not expect to love it so much and a lot of it is because of Shidare Hotaru. Don't get me wrong, the rest of cast is very well done. I love you Saya but this is Hotaru's world and we are just living in it. She is simply one of the greatest characters in the literal sense of the word. She is introduced as an overdramatic dagashi loving girl and remains that way throughout. But the few moments we see of her being an actual person with her own struggles and dreams are what really captured my heart. I think the consensus is that the 2nd season is inferior to the 1st. While I do prefer the cleaner art style of the 1st season, the 2nd season contain very impactful moments and I think they absolutely nailed them. It also had to follow a change in the manga which, in my opinion, was needed in order to move the story forward and gave great development for our main character Kokonotsu. The open ended ending may not have satisfied many but I think it is works just fine for a series like this. Last thing I want to say is I don't think Call of the Night is as good as this series. I've read 6 volumes and I've never felt the type of enjoyment towards it as compared to this. But I will still continue watching the anime to see if it may change my mind.
