20th Century Records was (in fact) 20th Century-Fox Records, that was re-established in 1972 by Russ Regan. The first artists they first signed were The DeFranco Family, Maureen McGovern, Barry White, and Brighter Side of Darkness. Love Unlimited, Carl Douglas, Edwin Starr, Stephanie Mills, Leon Haywood, Carl Carlton, and The Alan Parsons Project joined later with their hit albums. One famous soundtrack released by the label was Star Wars (A New Hope) in 1977. Russ Regan left the label in 1976, and Barry White left in 1978; reverting the name back to "20th Century-Fox Records"; with the reformed label launching a distribution deal with Carl Davis' "Chi-Sound Records" after. Chi-Sound Records was revived by Davis in 2007, with Hip-Hop and R&B being the only 2 genre's available; while 20th Century Fox created "Fox Music" in 1992, and that was absorbed by Disney into Hollywood Records in 2020.
