Mafuyu Sato emerges from his dark apartment carrying his Gibson guitar as he starts another day of high school. He meets fellow student Ritsuka Uenoyama by coincidence as he is taking a nap in a peaceful area on the stairs leading to the gym. Ritsuka chastises him for allowing his guitar's strings to rust and break. Sato begs Uenoyama to fix the instrument and teach him how to play after observing Uenoyama's proficiency with it. Eventually, Uenoyama accepts and asks him to join him and his fellow musicians, drummer Akihiko Kaji and bassist Haruki Nakayama, for a jam session. Because of Sato's voice's stunning beauty, Uenoyama is determined to make Sato the band's lead singer. After an emotional encounter with an old friend, Sato accepts the offer despite his initial reluctance. Sato needs the help of his new friends to not only learn how to play the guitar, but also to accept the puzzling events that brought him into possession of it.
