  My opinion... Dumbledore knows how to enter and control this pocket dimension. He enchanted that water drop to bring credence with him. All so him and credence could have it out and avoid collateral injuries and damage. Later, both dumbledore and grindelwald, being so close in ability, entered it willingly. Dumbledore, again, to avoid collateral and grindelwald to avoid being swarmed by...everyone... The scene earlier when dumbledore and grindelwald were on their...date...at that restaurant was both of them projecting mentally in that pocket dimension via the blood pact bond. Trying to talk things out. None of this appeared in the Harry potter books or movies because most of the fighting involved secluded magical locations, kids who couldn't have done it and people who didn't care (voldemort and death eaters). Thoughts...?
