Yes it's a machine gun, but it is useless to rambling fire it if you don't practice the right accuracy to hit a target. You are wasting the bullets haha.
Short explaination on the "It's a machine gun!" part:
MG3 users have to fire them in short bursts in order to be able to fire it accurately, and to avoid
overheating the barrel too soon.
As the M2 has a way slower rate of fire, it has no such "weaknesses" so it can be fired more... indiscriminately.
The German guy is firing the M2 as he was taught to fire the MG3, the American guy can't understand it and that's why he instructs him to shoot M2 "like a machine gun", because that's how you shoot a M2.
