Within the Maiden Court of the Kingdom of Ei, the empress and four imperial consorts are chosen from five prestigious clans. Among them, the graceful yet frail Reirin Kou is considered the perfect future empress, while the ill-tempered Keigetsu Shu is scorned by her peers and consumed by jealousy. On the night of a rare comet, Keigetsu pushes Reirin from a balcony in a bid to take her place. Though imprisoned for the crime, Keigetsu secretly uses magic to swap bodies with Reirin before her execution. As Keigetsu struggles in Reirin's fragile body, Reirin embraces her newfound strength and freedom, determined to survive and forge her own destiny—no matter whose face she bears.
