When I was 7, a group of soldiers stormed into our home, searching everywhere. My mother, with red eyes, hugged me, changed my clothes into my brother's, and then pushed me out of the room. Soon, I was forced into a prisoner's cart by the soldiers. All the way, I cried very loudly. I thought if my cries were loud enough, my parents would come to save me. That was until I heard the escorting officer say that all male family members would be executed, and female family members would be sent to the Jiaofangsi (imperial music and entertainment bureau).
