When my elder sister and I were born, a sorcerer predicted that one of the Song family's twins would bring about the family's downfall. Because I was quiet and didn't cry after birth, I was deemed the ill-fated one. My father, determined, prepared to drown me. My mother, unable to bear it, threatened to take her own life, declaring, 'She is also my daughter; no one is to kill her.' I survived, but I was sent to the most secluded courtyard in the Song family's back house, with only a nanny to care for me.
