In the ancient land of Jiuli, there is a legend about a miraculous grass that can bring the dead back to life. This magical plant has caused wars between nations who all want to possess it. Chang Huan, the female ruler of the Jiuli tribe, has been chosen to protect this sacred grass since childhood. She must feed it with her own blood to keep her people safe, but as punishment, she can never leave Jiuli city. Jin Ran, a brave general from the Central Plains, stays by her side as her protector.
