The conversation starts when Momo Ayase, a high school student from a family of mediums, intervenes to shield her classmate Ken Takakura, also known as "Okarun" and a devoted occultist, from bullies in the classroom. Momo believes in ghosts but not aliens, whereas Okarun believes in aliens but not ghosts. Nevertheless, the two quickly clash. In an attempt to disprove one another, they place a daring wager: Okarun enters a spooky tunnel, while Momo goes to an abandoned hospital where UFOs have been reported.
