While guiding on a glacier, Ryder reflects on the intense six-week journey he just completed working as a climbing guide in China. He describes it as one of the busiest and most challenging trips of his life—especially guiding in Chinese, in front of cameras, which he says was even more nerve-racking than climbing ice towers.
When asked what Wang Yibo is like, Ryder says Yibo is easygoing, kind, and feels like an old friend on a road trip. He explains that Yibo is hard to describe because he does so many things: acting, dancing, singing, racing, motorcycling, and now climbing. Ryder struggles to compare him to any Western celebrity because of how multi-talented he is.
Ryder expresses hope that he’ll be able to climb with Yibo again in the future, though he acknowledges how busy Yibo’s life is and how constantly he’s traveling.
Later, sitting quietly in the mountains, Ryder reflects on the past months, feeling that the experience almost doesn’t feel real. Then he receives a message inviting him to climb again in Squamish—and realizes that everything he experienced, including this journey with Yibo, was real.
