"Helen of Troy" is television miniseries based upon and the semi-retelling of Homer's story of the Trojan War as recounted in the epic poem, the Iliad. Paris, prince of Troy, is prophesied to cause his city’s downfall and is abandoned at birth. As a young man, he judges a beauty contest among three goddesses and chooses Aphrodite, who promises him the love of Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world. Helen is married to Menelaus, king of Sparta. She meets Paris during his visit to Sparta and the two fall in love and escape to Troy.
