The story follows Captain Yoo Si-jin (played by Song Joong-ki), a skilled and charismatic soldier in South Korea’s special forces, and Dr. Kang Mo-yeon (played by Song Hye-kyo), a dedicated and compassionate surgeon. The two meet by chance in Seoul and are immediately drawn to each other, but their differing values—his duty to his country versus her commitment to saving lives—create tension between them.
Fate brings them together again in Uruk, a fictional war-torn country where Si-jin’s unit is stationed and Mo-yeon leads a medical team for humanitarian work. Amidst earthquakes, epidemics, and conflicts, their love is tested by the dangers surrounding them and the moral challenges of their professions.
